I hate to rant on and on about bad experiences, but 2 bad spas in one trip is somewhat of a shock to me. After a long week of traveling, I booked a treatment at a very upscale hotel spa on Saturday afternoon. Or so I thought... the hotel itself was gorgeous, it even had a 4-star restaurant. So I arrived 15 minutes early per usual, but when I got to the lower level where the spa was I knew something was awry. It just didn't feel right. The girl at the front desk told me to sit in the relaxation room while she went and got me a robe. There were no teas or lovely pitchers of water... only some strange water cooler from the '80s and plastic cups. Oh and those extremely uncomfortable motorized massage chairs. So I sit and wait. 10 minutes later she returns with the robe, but no slippers. Obviously there will be slippers in the locker, right? Wrong. The lockers were located in the hall between the men's and women's changing rooms, which meant you had to bring all your clothes and underthings out into the hall where some strange man was shoving all his things in the locker next to yours. So back to the no slipper thing. I had to walk all over the spa, back to the relaxation room and even out to the front desk barefoot. I was mortified. Just goes to show, not all spas are created equal!
