Yesterday, a friend of mine and I were talking about our hair and the lengths we go to to get it cut and colored. When I first moved to NYC, I used to fly back to Miami to get my hair done every two months. People thought I was insane, but it really was nerve wrecking trying to find a new stylist in a city where there are hundreds — if not thousands — of stylists. In my many attempts to find someone in the city my hair was bleached an awful yellow color and burned to pieces. It was just easier — and actually cheaper! — to make the trip down south. Turns out my friend does the same! She drives from Massachusetts to NYC to see her stylist. So why in the world do women go to such trouble just to get their hair cut and colored? Your hair is one of the very first things that people notice about you and it is directly related to our self esteem. Why do you think women are constantly talking about having a bad hair day? Whether we like it or not our hair affects how we feel about ourselves and it sets the tone for the day. God forbid I get caught in the rain after a blow out — I might need therapy immediately. I am happy to report that I have since found a local stylist and we are very happy together.
