I have been to many a spa in my time and there is nothing more irritating than a therapist with bad "bedside manner." I was in a spa in Europe over the weekend getting an express facial and massage. Each lasted about 30 minutes and it could have been rather enjoyable. The spa used Espa products, which I adore, and I was in such need of a little relaxation time that I thought "what could go wrong?" Well, I definitely spoke too soon. Not only did the therapist have distractingly garish hair and makeup (there is something to be said a clean, natural look), but she banged around so much during the treatment I found it impossible to relax. She even went out of the room during my treatment flooding the entire space with light! To make matters worse, she didn't ask if I wore contacts (which admittedly I should have volunteered the information) before she smeared some sort of ointment all over and in my eyes. I had to walk around all day with blurry, irritating contacts irritating. Lesson learned: If they do not ask you either in a written questionaire or verbally if you wear contacts make it a point to let your therapist know!
